  • Add and combine all the dry ingredients in the sauce pin. Boil the ingredients and let it simmer for some time. Then add the buttermilk with the ingredients and stir to combine.
  • Then add and combine 1-part creamy pepper sauce and 1-part Mayonnaise to the mixture, which will act as a spread on your burger.

Prepare the patty melt:

  • Now, take another pan sauté the remaining onion using oil until the onions reach the caramelization process.
  • Make 4-ounce burger pieces, weigh out, if need be. Then season them using any seasoning blend.
  • Make three meat perforations in one direction and another three perforations into the meat in a 45-degree angle. It will make sure that the burger doesn’t shrink too much. It will also give an exciting and unique texture.
  • Then butter up a few pieces of Texas toast and grill on medium-high heat for around 3-4 minutes.

So, the cooking order is:  creamy pepper spread, grilled onion, budget patty, Texas toast. Then serve the burger patty using the creamy pepper spread or the way you like to serve.

FAQ

What’s the difference between a patty melt and a cheeseburger?

A patty melt is a variant or part of the traditional American cheeseburger. Although both these dishes contain cheese and ground beef patties, they are served in different ways. While cheeseburger is served using soft bun pieces, a patty melt is served with grilled onion, caramelized onions and Texas toast.

Are patty melts a Texas thing?

A patty melt is simply a sandwich consisting of a ground beef patty and classical cheese, preferably traditionally Swiss Cheese, except the Whataburger patty melt (Whataburger sauce for Whataburger patty melt). It is served by topping with two slices of griddled bread and caramelized onions. Although it is not purely a Texas thing, Texas toast is sometimes used in this dish, as I have used to substitute the slices of griddled bread. Texas toast is a substitute in the southern U.S. mostly.
