Chocolate Lasagna Recipe From Olive Garden

It is very unlikely that one goes to Olive Garden for any dessert. Yes, let’s be frank! If you ask me, I would say I go to Olive Garden for carbs, more carbs, and carbs again. I believe this is quite the truth for everybody else out there. But time has changed, folks! It is not the same old Olive Garden anymore. They have come up with an amazing sweet treat, the Olive Garden chocolate lasagna.

This chocolate lasagna is rich with sweet vanilla cream cheese and elegantly rich brownie fudge of eight layers. All you need to do is let the fudge sink in, and you get the best sweet treat of the year!

Once the only recipe of Olive Garden that I kept recommending was the Olive Garden Meatball Recipe, but now this amazing recipe for chocolate lasagna from Olive Garden has made it up to the list of one of my most favorite Olive Garden recipes.

Note that some of the local Olive Garden restaurants may not have this dish on their menu. Considering this, today I’m here with the olive garden chocolate lasagna recipe.

Ingredients

Ingredients for the cake

  1. Cake flour (6 cups)
  2. Butter (1-½ cups)
  3. Milk (4-½ cups)
  4. Baking soda (2 tablespoons)
  5. Sugar (5-¼ cups)
  6. Hershey’s cocoa (2-1/4 cups)
  7. Eggs (12 large eggs)
  8. Vanilla extract (1 tablespoon)

Ingredients for the buttercream

  1. Meringue powder (4 tablespoons)
  2. Confectioner’s sugar (12 cups)
  3. Shortening (1-1/4 cups)
  4. Salt (3/4 teaspoon)
  5. Water (2/3 cup)
  6. Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
  7. Almond extract (1 teaspoon)
  8. Butter flavor (1 teaspoon; colorless)

Instructions

Prepare the cake

  • To begin with, heat your oven to exactly 345-degree Fahrenheit. At the same time, grease three springform pans, each measuring 10-inch.
  • Take a large bowl and mix up the Hershey’s Cocoa, butter, sugar, cake flour, and baking soda. Stir well until there is a smooth consistency of the ingredients. Then add up eggs, vanilla extract, and sugar and skip stirring to mix properly.
  • Now place the cake batter in the three greased pans dividing three ways, approximately 5 cups each. Bake the batter for 45 minutes or more until you can take the inserted toothpick out clean from the middle of the cake.
  • Let the cake cool down for 15 minutes on the pan, and then take them down. Remove from the pan and set them in a wire rack for further cooling.

Prepare the Butter Cream

  • In a bowl, put meringue powder and water and whip very quickly to form peaks. Then add the whole amount of sugar, but 1 cup at a time after; beat the mixture smoothly add the next cup and do the same for the remaining cups of sugar.
  • Then add the shortening and beat slowly to eventually add up the flavorings and salt. Make sure the mixture is smooth.
  • At last, use a small amount of the frosting to thin it out. Later on, this thinned frosting will be used between the layers as the filling.

Assemble

  • Take a large round cake platter or a large round plate and put the 10-inch cake on it. Then use half of the frosting to top the cake. Sprinkle the cake using the chocolate chips lightly; utilize semi-sweet as well.
  • Now, place the second piece of cake on top of the first and top with the other half of the thinned frosting. But don’t forget to sprinkle using semi-sweet chocolate chips as well. Then place the last layer of cake on top of the second.
  • To finish, use the whole buttercream cheese that you haven’t thinned. As this frosting layer is thick, make it as thin as you int; piling it up will do as well.
  • Keep the top of the cake smooth and, at last, use the remaining chocolate chips to sprinkle the top of the cake.

How to serve

Now, just like pizza, make wedges by cutting the cake smoothly. Then utilize Hershey’s chocolate syrup to create any design of your preference on the dessert plate. Now place the chocolate wedges on the dessert plate at the 11 o’clock position, in which the point of the wedges will face down.

Thus, the syrup design will offer a satisfying view and you will enjoy olive garden chocolate lasagna to the full.

Recipe Note

  • The first layer of the cake should have very few chocolate chips. So, sprinkle the chips very lightly with caution.
  • The chocolate brownie lasagna doesn’t require the frosting process as a must. So, you can very well skip it. But, if you aim for the frosting, I recommend letting it set up, at room temperature, for at least 50-60 minutes; it seems much more authentic than any other options out there.
  • If you are not convinced with the result, you can keep the cake you can from drying out by just wrapping the sides slowly and lightly with foil.

Recipe Variations

To bring up a little variation in your recipe, you have a few options. You can add tender noodles on top of the cake along with layers of cheese and meat sauce simultaneously.
